Colonial Document 1777
State of Connecticut Very Good. 7 1/2 x 12"
A Revolutionary War Document regarding raising a company of soldiers for the New York Militia. I quote partially, "Know all ye men by these presents, that " I Noadiah Hooker of Farmington" in the State of Connecticut, are holden and bound ...Two thousand Pounds ...[money to be paid by CT] sealed with my seal this day of 1st April 1777. (Part of the original wax seal still adheres to the document.) The Condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas "Asa Bray" is appointed Captain of, and to raise a company ." The original words that were printed is crossed out here. It had said, "in the continental battalion to be commanded by." Replaced to be read in script, "of militia detached to serve in the state of New York for the term of six weeks ....." other printed and manuscript follows. Signed in the prescence of; signed "Charles Hopkins" and signed, "Noadiah Hooker." This document and these types of documents are extremely rare on the market these days. This was our war for independence and this document is a primary source showing the raising of part of the continental army.

This issue also contains an interview with folksinger Joan Baez. Robert Townsend represented; the infamous, "Oh Calcutta" photos, and of course Little Annie Fanny. A classic issue with period advertisements.
